Monthly Garden Tips & Tricks
Follow our series of monthly tips and tricks to ensure that your garden, whatever its size, looks the best all year round.
September - Monthly Garden Tips
New perennials, trees and shrubs should be planted now that
the cooler weather has arrived along with spring flowering bulbs such as daffodils. Any climbing roses in your garden should be
pruned once they have flowered and hanging baskets should be deadheaded and
watered. If maintained properly these
can keep looking good until mid-autumn.
Any potatoes still remaining in the soil should be dug up
now to protect them from slug damage and regularly pick your fast maturing
vegetables, such as French beans, runner beans, courgettes, cucumbers, peppers
and tomatoes, to prevent them becoming stringy.
Ponds should be covered or netted to keep leaves out.
