May - Monthly Garden Tips
With the nicer weather hopefully on its way, now is the time
to finish planting your evergreen shrubs and replace any spring bedding with
some summer colour. However, beware of
planting too early since late frosts can harm tender plants and pests such as
slugs and greenfly will need to be dealt with.
Having checked for nesting birds, you should now be thinking about
lightly trimming any hedges.
For those of you who are growing your own vegetables,
potatoes should be earthed up as they begin to shoot. And, with one eye always on the future, why
not sow your pumpkin seeds now in preparation for your Halloween lantern?
