Use the New Year Resolution to clear out the garden shed of rubbish and debris, getting rid of old or broken bamboo canes and checking fruit/vegetable stores regularly to remove any rotting or mouldy specimens.  Your Christmas tree, providing it wasn't artificial, should also be recycled by shredding and mulching.

Early potatoes can be chitted and placed somewhere which is light and frost-free.  Now is also the time to choose which vegetables you'd like to grow over the Spring/Summer months.  If you are a fan of rhubarb it can be forced from now onwards.
