Winter colour is now starting to appear with snowdrops and hellebores giving a glimpse of the seasons to come.   Shrubs and roses will need to be dressed with a slow release fertiliser around their roots and ornamental grasses cut back.

Your vegetable rotation should now have been planned and, if you are planning on growing cabbage or other brassicas, lime will need to be added to the soil.  This is the last month where you will be able to prune your apple and pear trees.
