August - Monthly Garden Tips

Prune any rambling roses after flowering and ensure that plants are watered regularly.  Now is the time to start to re-condition the soil by feeding it some green manure and birds should be fed with seed and water.

Sweetcorn and other vegetables can be harvested as they become ready, as can apples, pears and blackberries.  Any fruited canes of summer raspberries should be cut out and new canes tied in for next year.  Now is also the time to complete your summer pruning.
